Who we are

Migrantour Utrecht is the first Migrantour in the Netherlands. Our tours are co-created together with Utrecht residents, business people and community organisers to better understand changes in the city's neighbourhoods over time and their current realities. 

We have explored how centuries of migration have shaped Lombok, Utrecht, and the Netherlands, and reflected on how our own experiences and backgrounds connect to these layered histories.

Together, we have identified the places, stories, and questions that make up our walks - shaped through discussion, debate, and collaboration, and informed by insights from storytelling and guiding practice.

The Lombok tour was co-created by Abdulaal Hussein, Dana Motlaq, Daniel Okiror, Denzel Diamanti, Jill Ahrens, Negar Rajabi, Norullah Ihsan, Oumar Barry, Paula Bran, Randa Awad, Sasha Jourd'heuil, Siham El Ouazizi, Samah Kareesh, and Yetunde Oludare.

Migrantour Utrecht was co-founded in 2021 by cultural geographer and educator Meghann Ormond and social worker and educator Fiona Hawes.

We are a proud member of the Migrantour network, one of the more than 20 Migrantour initiatives in cities and rural areas throughout Europe that are working to bring about a more realistic understanding of migration.
